What is the big deal about Disability Education?
Disability education is such a huge part of our schools. With the number of children with disabilities growing everyday, we need to make sure that every child is receiving the guidance that will help them to be successful.
Our current approaches, while helping in some ways, prove to not be the best approach when it comes to the children's education. The social aspect of our current approaches is the most successful. It has been proven that if children, regardless of their abilities, are together on a social level then it is beneficial to them in the long run because is lowers the chance of judgmental thoughts as they grow older.
The academic side of schooling is where it becomes a bit more difficult. There are so many different learning levels within a classroom that it is hard for the children to learn. As well as it being difficult for the teachers, especially those who do not have the educational background in special education. For those students who receive help in a resource room, it is likely not a sufficient amount of time in order for them to fully understand the material.
